40k Project: Obliterators and Plague Terminators

Or Terminators with the Mark of Nurgle. However, unlike the other units, I think there are Forgeworld rules and models for Not-just-Mon-but-actual-Plague-Marine-Terminators. Or maybe they're just Death Guard Terminators... anyway, I don't really care and it don't matter.

These models were created from the 5 Dark Angles Deathwing Terminators, wearers of heavier armor than your average Space or Chaos Space Marine. They have their own separate collection of swappable weapons (actually swappable arms)..

Termies:

The racks of spikes/pikes on their backs were brass rods with the heads of spears from the current Night Goblin plastics.

Left to right:

*Bulging-gut-guy featuring crack in gut-plate with intestine dripping out and bolted on patch, Nurgle emblem on knee, pitting and corrosion on breastplate, curved tusks (goblin bows),heavy gauge hose venting contents of stomach to nose/mouth, and ork and human skull trophies*

*Aspiring Champion featuring upper portions of robe sculpted from greenstuff, skull belt ornament (old Night Goblin shield emblem), huge crack in rear ventilation system with greenstuff growth creeping out, single side horn (something from Dark Vengeance), short tusks, and cyclops eye (styrene rod and small round mystery piece)*

*Burst-gut-guy featuring human skull trophy, split in face plate making helmet vaguely insect-like, short tusks, fractured gut-plate, and viscera spilling out.*

Here is the complete set of weapon/arms:

Clockwise starting at 12'o'clock:
Powerfist with cracked pauldron and scuffs on the knuckle-part (realism), Combi-meltagun with big-tongued daemon face growth (greenstuff) on pauldron, Powerfist with defaced Crux Terminatus, Chainfist with Nurgle Emblem and scuffs along chain-blade (more prominent on other side), Powersword with flattened tip and Nurgle emblem on pauldron, Combi-plasmagun with scrapes suggesting its use as a bludgeoning weapon and Nurgle emblem on pauldron, Combi-meltagun (the Melta barrel is actually a drilled-out piece of sprue and sliced styrene tube) with bayonet (Night Goblin spear) and long horn growing from pauldron (Orc standard)

Center: Combi-plasmagun with blemishes in shape of Nurgle emblem grown on pauldron

Also compatible sort-of: The pair of Rending Claws from the Plague Marines weapons, though some sort of spacers would be needed for the longer brass rod on the Terminators. Nobody's ever going to not give them all Combi-weapons, anyway.

Onto the Obliterators, Chaos guys in Terminator-equivalent armor who (by letting daemons live in their armor with them or something) are able to morph their bodies into a variety of heavy weapons like that one guy from X-men (disregard if no such character exists).

The official version of the models for these are notoriously unpopular :)

I went for something more dynamic. I want to show them in savage melee combat with their giant gun-arms, instead of just standing there like big lumps and shooting. I learned a lot of patience with these guys re. smoothing out layers of greenstuff. I'm still quite pleased with them even though my standards have become higher since then. Luckily, I already primed them so I can go back and fiddle more with them!

These mostly speak for themselves, so I won't annotate. 100 of the squishy squishy parts were sculpted by me (most of the weapons are from Dark Vengeance, the tusks were my old standby the Orc skull standard).

The primer came out a little fuzzier than ideal on these guys, but I'd imagine they'll look fine once painted.

Here's what they were meant to replace. A big improvement, I'd say:

Here are the multi-part plastic Chaos Terminators for reference:

And here is how all of my models came stock:
